Paintings from SomeHere

Solo exhibition by painter Erez Avny, featuring a limited selection of oil paintings from 1999-2001.
The exhibition consists of two parts:
The first is a collection of paintings from different periods of time and places.
These paintings represent the artist's work and its characteristics - a unique ideological-social world-view and an original work technique: multi-perspective, colorfulness and movement.

The second part includes a series of paintings called "Silence of the Muses - Portraits of Painting".

"Silence of the Muses - Portraits of Painting" - Series

A series of paintings created during 2001, showing white heads against black background. The heads are faceless, some of them without necks. These are portraits - of whom and of what?

The portraits were created using different painting methods and are described in various ways. Some of them are constructed from a collection of amorphous shapes, joined or adjacent, forming a head. Some are made of internal-external contours, organically developing and growing.
The black background is present in all paintings of this series - in some it is "mat" black, in others glossy black, creating a reflection.

The series is dealing with social and artistic issues:
Is our world black-and-white?
Is black the same black?
Can the same portrait be shown in different ways?
Whose heads are these?

Why do the muses keep silent?
